Weak prompt
Write a blog post about productivity.
Stronger prompt
Act as a practical productivity coach. Write a 900-word article for remote workers who feel overwhelmed. Use a friendly tone, include 5 actionable tips, add H2 headings, and finish with a checklist.
The second prompt works better because it gives a role, audience, length, tone, structure, topic, and output expectation.
Common prompt mistakes
- Asking for “good” without defining what good means.
- Leaving out the audience or use case.
- Not specifying format.
- Asking for too many unrelated tasks at once.
- Not giving examples when style matters.
